A major annual event that has been hosted by the City of Prospect for the past 5 years and attracted a generous crowd of over 18,000 spectators last year will be returning to bring colour, fun, and excitement to the vibrant Prospect Road on January 17 (next week)!
Tourrific Prospect is a family-friendly street party that is conducted on the heart of Prospect Road, where music, dance, food, and entertainment will come together to bring kids and adults alike with a magical and unforgettable party of fun and festivities.
This year’s theme – Our Colourful Community– focuses on bringing together well-loved elements from the past as well as introducing new and exciting experiences of the present age.
There will also be contemporary performances by local buskers and artists, which will involve a diverse selection of Aboriginal, Indian, and African components (to name a few).
A sneak peek with other bloggers of the Adelaide community revealed the event details, which was put together by the Prospect City Council and hosted by the ever-so-energetic duo Hayley Pearson & Lauren De Cesare from Adelady. We were welcomed to the community event’s launch by Aboriginal dance group Yellaka, who put up a beautiful dance for us. We were also later treated to the simple yet mesmerizing act of Mr Spin, who captivated our attention with his excellent juggling skills.
Throughout the event, key note speakers from the City Council of Prospect, such as Mayor David O’Loughlin and CEO Cate Hart (to name a few) provided us with a brief background into the development and progress of the city of Prospect over the past several years, where a number of local and South Australian businesses have found home in this small but quaint Northern suburb.
For food and drink, a delicious variety of Prospect and South Australian-based businesses such as Middle Eastern // Mediterranean delicacies by Al Mina, ice cream local Popsicool, Chinese cuisine by Bing’s Restaurant, Italian delights by Café Di Roma, as well as refreshing wines by SAMU Wines and Wildfox Wines will be available for purchase at the street party, so remember to spoil yourselves with delicious goodies throughout the party because it’s going to be a big one!
For the kids – there will be the Loopy Kids Ride, where kids from ages 4 – 12 will be able to showcase their brilliant riding skills on the Prospect Circuit. What’s even better is that this area will later be covered in Astro Turf for an increased level of activity and fun.
A number of shopping and retail outlets will be trading throughout the evening via pop-up stalls and tents – including the African twilight markets – so make sure you stop by and have a look at presents that you can buy for someone special // your special self!
With so much lined up to maximize the festivities and add colour to our diverse culture, you don’t want to miss out! This is a free community event, so round up some friends or bring your family for an evening of merriment, live entertainment, and dynamic performances in Prospect.
