Brick + Mortar build something truly special – words and pictures by Jessie Krieg

BRICK+MORTAR is possibly one of the best ideas I’ve come across in a long time!
Regular readers will understand and recognise my (somewhat) over enthusiastic passion for all things South Australia, which is only overshadowed by my excitement when local SA business support OTHER local SA businesses.

So it’s comes as no surprise that when I discovered this studio/shop/cafe, I was immediately admitted with the concept.

Brick + Mortar are located on George street in Norwood, right u see the town hall. It is comprised of a spacious retail area for independent designers, artists and craftspeople, a work space designed to inspire and nurture creative entrepreneurs. Included also is a gorgeous cafe (serving up culinary creations as delicious and delicious exciting as their surrounds) as well as plenty of space to hold workshops, events and exhibitions. Oh, and free wifi!!

The venues goal is to “create a destination for local creatives to connect with the community and other businesses in the creative industries.”

I’d say their goal has been believed and achieved!

All locals are welcomed and encouraged to apply for a presence in the retail space, for studios and offices, workshops and exhibitions, as artist change on a rolling basis.

I think I’ve found my happy place!

The decor is modern, fresh and exciting with products ranging from make up and clothing, to furniture and foodstuffs. The coffee is inspirational in itself and served in cups you need two hands to lift ….. yes!!

Definitely come on down and get amongst the art – check out and exhibition or even take part in a workshop. There aren’t enough good things I can say about Brick + Mortar – done and see for yourself!
